Ryanair : Travelling with a teenager
Travelling with a teenager aged 12 to 15 on Ryanair?
In some cases, your teenager's passenger type may not be correctly recognized on Ryanair website, and they may be registered as an "adult" instead of a "teenager". If the passenger type is incorrect, online check-in won't be possible, and Ryanair may charge you a fee if you check in at the airport.
As a precaution, we suggest that you check this directly on the Ryanair website by following these steps:
1. Go to the Ryanair website
- Visit the Ryanair website
- Click on "Log in" at the top of the screen
- If you already have a MyRyanair account created with the same email address used for your Option Way booking, log in to your account
- Otherwise, click on “Don't have an account? Sign up” at the bottom of the window
- Enter the email address used for your Option Way booking confirmation and create a password
- You will then receive an activation code by email, which is required to complete the creation of your account (valid for 30 days). If you don’t receive the email, please check your junk folder.
- Enter the 8-character verification code on the Ryanair website.
- You are signed in!
2) Go to the passenger information section
- Select the booking to check
- Check that the passenger type for each traveler matches the airline’s rules as following:
- Adult : 16+ years
- Teens : 12-15 ans years
- Children : 2-11 ans years
- Infant : Under 2 years
- If needed, click on "Change the age of a passenger" on the left side of your screen, then click "Continue."
Note: If you’re traveling to the United Kingdom, we recommend skipping ahead to step 5 of the procedure.
3) Enter the date of birth
- Enter the date of birth of the lead passenger to unlock the option to edit the others, then click “Confirm.”
- Enter your teenager’s date of birth
4) Save your changes

If you have trouble updating your teenager's details online, we recommend contacting the airline’s live chat for assistance. Just follow the steps below:
5) Contact Ryanair live chat
- Go to Ryanair contact page
- Click on "Start chat" and type "I need to talk to a customer care agent"
- Enter the email address used for your Option Way booking along with your booking reference
- Ask the customer care agent to update your teen’s passenger type.
